About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to join our Wills, Probate, Tax & Trusts team as a Solicitor, where you will be responsible for managing a personal caseload of Wills, Probate, Tax & Trust matters. You will also support on more complex matters with senior members of the team.

As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for liaising directly with clients and ensuring a high level of client care is provided at all times. You will report directly to the Head of Wills, Probate, Tax & Trusts.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage a varied caseload of Wills, Probate, Tax & Trust matters, including providing general advice to clients on all aspects of Wills, Probate, Tax & Trust processes.
  • Prepare lasting powers of attorney and deputyship orders.
  • Deal with estate administration, including advising on risks of death, divorce or bankruptcy in respect of lifetime gifting.
  • Advising on obtaining grants of probate and letters of administration.
  • Settling estate liabilities and administering estates in accordance with the correct procedures.
  • Obtaining deputyship orders from the Court of Protection as required and acting on behalf of court-appointed deputies.
  • Support on more complex matters alongside senior members of the team.
  • Ensure matters are kept up to date in systems and new advancements are communicated to the relevant team members.
  • Record all time in the Tikit system, including non-billable activities.
  • Take responsibility for managing the client experience and attending client meetings where necessary.
  • Takes a keen interest in business development for the department and contributes where required.
  • Supports departmental audits as and when required.
  • Take on additional tasks as reasonably required by the Head of Wills, Probate, Tax & Trusts.
