About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Mobile Caretaker to join our Communal Services Team at Octavia. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in ensuring our properties and surrounding areas are clean, tidy, safe, secure, and in good condition.

Key Responsibilities
  • Cleaning and Maintenance: Ensure all properties covered by the mobile team are cleaned to a high standard, including regular sweeping of external areas, removing litter from communal gardens, cleaning internal areas, and prompt removal of graffiti.
  • Reporting and Follow-up: Report and follow up on all communal repairs, ensuring that any issues are addressed promptly and efficiently.
  • Health and Safety: Inspect play equipment on a regular basis and report any repairs or breakages to ensure the equipment is safe for use.
  • Site Inspections: Participate in site inspections to ensure that all properties are maintained to a high standard.
  • Customer Service: Provide advice and signpost residents to other services, and report any support needs to the Housing Services Team.
  • Image and Reputation: Provide a positive image of the Estate Services team and Octavia Housing.
  • Flexibility: Work flexibly at a large number of different sites as required.
Requirements

This role would suit an individual with a background in cleaning, caretaking, or building management. You will need to have sound knowledge of health and safety practices and requirements in relation to cleaning, including COSHH and Manual Handling. You will also need to be able to deal with resident concerns and complaints, while liaising with our contractors.

Essential Skills and Qualities
  • Able to be on call out of hours and deal with emergencies as required.
  • Able to manage and prioritize own work effectively.
  • Ability to carry out basic DIY/maintenance tasks.
  • Able to carry out physical tasks on a daily basis.
