Role Summary:

We are looking for a skilled Senior Backend Engineer to create and maintain robust and efficient databases tailored to the needs of our organization. Your role will involve the development, testing, enhancement, and upkeep of both new and existing databases to ensure effective data management.

As a key member of our IT department, you will work closely with fellow developers to maintain system integrity and offer technical assistance to various applications. Excellent communication, organizational, and analytical skills are vital for success in this position.

Reporting Structure: You will report to the Senior Associate Director of IT and the Backend Chapter Lead. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Designing stable and efficient databases.
  • Optimizing and maintaining legacy systems.
  • Modifying databases in response to requests and conducting tests.
  • Resolving database-related issues and malfunctions.
  • Collaborating with developers to enhance applications and establish best practices.
  • Gathering user requirements and identifying new features.
  • Providing data management support to users.
  • Ensuring all database programs align with company standards and performance expectations.

Qualifications:

You Should Have:

  • Proven experience as a SQL Database Developer.
  • Comprehensive understanding of relational databases and design principles.
  • Hands-on experience with Postgres, including performance optimization and analysis.
  • Familiarity with AWS Gateways.
  • Knowledge of software development and web application user interfaces.
  • Experience with .NET C#.
  • A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with Hasura GraphQL.

Essential Skills:

  • .NET and Database Development:
    • Core .NET Framework knowledge.
    • Experience with .NET Framework/.NET Core 5, 6, 7+.
    • Proficiency in C# programming.
  • Backend Development:
    • Experience with ASP.NET Core, including API and RESTful services.
    • Knowledge of Entity Framework Core and Object Relational Mapping.
    • API design and development experience.
  • Database Skills:
    • Proficiency in MS SQL Server, including writing complex queries and stored procedures, as well as optimizing database performance.
    • Database design skills, including tables, views, triggers, and scalable schema design.
  • Cloud Experience:
    • Familiarity with Azure or AWS, including services like Azure Functions and App Services.
    • Knowledge of CI/CD practices, including tools like Jenkins and GitHub Actions.
  • Microservices Architecture:
    • Experience in microservices design.
    • Familiarity with Docker and Kubernetes.
