Your responsibilitiesAs a Cost Estimator, your key duties will include:
- Upholding high standards of safety and environmental practices in line with Company policies
- Facilitating effective communication within your team
- Overseeing, guiding, and mentoring your team members
- Engaging with supply chain partners through pre-contract discussions, contract evaluations, and input on subcontract documentation
- Managing subcontractor finances, including payment processing, final account negotiations, and resolving disputes through negotiation when necessary
- Ensuring timely and accurate cost performance reporting
- Assisting in the preparation of monthly and quarterly financial reports
- Handling change management while ensuring compliance with contractual timelines and notifications
- Adhering to Risk and Opportunity management protocols and advising the Management Team accordingly
- Producing timely applications for payments in accordance with contract conditions
- Participating in site commercial meetings and providing financial guidance to the site team
- Organizing your time and that of your commercial team effectively
The ideal candidate will possess the following essential qualifications:
- Proven experience as a Cost Estimator within a main contracting environment, showcasing strong commercial acumen
- Ability to foster and maintain collaborative relationships with project stakeholders, including Clients, Project Managers, and Designers
- Confidence and capability to work effectively in a team setting, positively influencing project outcomes
- Willingness to support and mentor colleagues in their professional growth
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word
Desirable qualifications include:
- Experience with Early Contractor Involvement
- Familiarity with target cost contracts
- Progress towards CICES membership or equivalent
