Aerothermal Design Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Aerothermal Design Engineer to join our team at Sumitomo Electric. As a key member of our design team, you will be responsible for creating development geometry for CFD and parts for wind tunnel and track testing using CATIA v5.

Main Responsibilities:

  1. Collaborate closely with Aerodynamicists to develop aerodynamic design processes and coach others in surface design best practice.
  2. Ensure timely delivery of tasks while maintaining high standards of quality.
  3. Develop and implement continuous improvement initiatives to optimize geometry within aerodynamic and packaging constraints.
  4. Utilize strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office products, to support design activities.
  5. Apply creative problem-solving skills to optimize geometry and ensure aerodynamic performance.
  6. Participate in wind tunnel model design and testing to validate aerodynamic performance.
  7. Hold a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field and possess a minimum of 5 years of CATIA v5 surfacing experience in motorsport, automotive, or aerospace environments.

About the Role:

This is a contract position, working hybrid (2 days onsite) in Woking, Surrey. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in aerothermal design, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
