About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Litigation and Claims Lawyer to join our team at Jet2. As a key member of our litigation team, you will be responsible for overseeing and addressing injury and illness claims related to Jet2holidays and aviation claims. You will also handle general litigation within the business and provide supervision and support to juniors within the team, with a strategic focus on minimising costs to the business while maximising reclaims from suppliers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Read, assess, and make decisions on pre-litigation and post-lit claims across a wide range of business areas.
  • Review and authorise Defences, Schedules of Loss, Instructions to experts, and other relevant documents.
  • Investigate costs incurred by the business to see if contributions can be made from external parties where they are at fault, and instigate investigations and negotiations as necessary.
  • Work closely with the company's brokers, insurers, and their loss adjusters in respect of claims management, directly supporting the GM – Litigation and Claims Management.
  • Deliver training within the Legal Department and across the business on relevant issues and claims-handling processes.
Requirements
  • A Qualified Lawyer with at least 3 years of post-qualification experience dealing with litigation and claims, ideally in travel law/personal injury.
  • In-house travel experience would be desirable.
  • A working knowledge of Package Travel Regulations.
  • A full working knowledge of claims handling processes and Civil Procedure Rules.
