Position: Principal Engineer – Product Safety Engineering

Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate within an Integrated Development Team dedicated to the advancement and delivery of submarine capabilities.
- Focus on the completion of Product Safety tasks and activities across various systems, ensuring alignment with project milestones throughout the Engineering Life Cycle Management.
- Facilitate Hazard Identification and Analysis initiatives.
- Assist in the creation or review of safety documentation.
- Ensure adherence to the project’s Safety Management System within the Integrated Development Team.
- Coordinate with other Integrated Development Teams and the Whole Boat Safety Team.
Required Qualifications:
- A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering with a minimum predicted classification of 2:2.
- Familiarity with 'Safety and Systems Engineering' principles and the 'Engineering Life Cycle Management' process.
- Experience in team-based project delivery, with the ability to work independently when required.
- Adaptability to changing work practices and customer needs.
- Self-driven with strong verbal and written communication abilities.
- Practical experience in Product Safety Engineering within the maritime defense sector is preferred, though experience from other sectors will be considered.

About the Safety & Environmental Team:
This role provides an opportunity to gain insights into submarine operations and the Royal Navy's operational methodologies. As a Product Safety Engineer, you will support System Engineers in shaping submarine systems and capability development. You will deepen your understanding of submarine systems and their interactions, ensuring that Product Safety considerations are integrated effectively.
The position allows for involvement in all facets of safety management and safety case development, including safety requirements management, hazard identification, hazard data management, application of the ALARP principle, and the continuous enhancement of the safety management system. This role offers a unique chance to gain a comprehensive perspective on complex systems such as submarines.
