About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and skilled Orthopaedic Sister to join our team at Doncaster & Bassetlaw Teaching Hospitals NHS FT. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will be responsible for coordinating the activities of the ward/department to ensure the highest standard of patient care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinating the activities of the ward/department team to ensure the highest standard of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of individualized holistic patient care in conjunction with the multidisciplinary team.
  • Encouraging an environment of empowerment through coaching, teaching, and facilitating.
  • Managing the ward/department in the absence of the Senior Sister/Charge Nurse.
  • Managing the bed/unit bleep and coordinating flow alongside the site team and surgical flow matron.
  • Ensuring support for all staff on the orthopaedic unit on a night.

Requirements
  • Proven experience at Band 5 in an orthopaedic setting.
  • Evidence of having developed skills within the Scope of Professional Practice relevant to the area of responsibility.
  • Evidence of ward/dept management under supervision of the person with 24-hour continuing responsibility.
Desirable Qualifications and Attributes
  • Proven experience at Band 6.
  • Evidence of research-based practice.
  • RGN with current registration.
  • Demonstrate professional post-registration development.
  • Demonstrate positive verbal and written communication skills with multidisciplinary team/client/relatives.
  • Demonstrate a caring manner with an understanding disposition.
  • Able to accommodate the demands of the post with flexible working as required.
