Role Overview: The Lead Healthcare Support Worker plays a crucial role in assisting nursing and midwifery staff in delivering exceptional care to patients across various hospital departments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support patients with their care requirements, ensuring to report any changes in their condition to the registered nursing staff.
  • Monitor patients for signs of discomfort or pain, promptly informing the nursing team of any concerns.
  • Assist with dietary needs by delivering meals and providing support with eating and drinking as necessary.
  • Under indirect supervision, take and document patient observations, such as temperature and blood pressure, and communicate any significant changes to the nursing staff.
  • Collaborate with the nursing team to engage with patients, facilitating feedback on their hospital experience.
  • Assist in the safe discharge and transfer of patients from clinical areas.
  • Provide one-on-one support for patients at risk of falls or wandering.

Work Environment: The Lead Healthcare Support Worker ensures a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for patients, their families, and healthcare professionals.

Infection Control: Demonstrate a solid understanding of infection control protocols, including the proper disposal of sharps and handling of spillages.
