Oxford, Oxfordshire, United Kingdom University of Oxford Full time
Position Overview

We are looking for a dedicated Research Associate to become a part of the Oxford Materials Department, contributing to a significant project under the guidance of Prof Sebastian Bonilla.

This position is part-time (0.5 FTE hours per week) and involves active participation in research activities aimed at enhancing the understanding and development of advanced solar cells.

The successful candidate will focus on the investigation, development, and optimization of a novel spatial atomic layer deposition apparatus. This equipment will be utilized for depositing transparent conducting oxides, which are essential as selective, passivating, and interconnecting layers in perovskite-on-silicon tandem solar cells.

This initiative will be conducted in close partnership with Dr Zhuotong Sun from NanoPrint Innovations Ltd. In addition to the essential work needed to create highly efficient nanolayer interconnects, the candidate will collaborate with a team of doctoral students, postdoctoral researchers, and other collaborators to refine cell production processes.

The role requires proficiency in solar cell processing and characterization techniques, including photoconductance, photoluminescence, electroluminescence, external quantum efficiency, standard IV measurements, reflectance spectrometry, scanning electron microscopy, atomic force microscopy, and electron beam induced current.

This project will necessitate collaboration with external commercial and academic partners, highlighting the importance of excellent communication and organizational skills.

Additionally, the role encompasses the publication and dissemination of scientific findings through journal articles and conference presentations, as well as the development of new grant proposals for future research endeavors.

Responsibilities will also extend to involvement in other projects within the research group, including the supervision and mentoring of junior students and support for the development of new research topics aligned with the team's areas of expertise.

All applications must be submitted online through the designated recruitment system.
