Job Overview

An exceptional opportunity has emerged for a qualified and seasoned professional to step into the role of Clinical Liaison Lead within the emergency pathway of the mental health service at Pennine Care NHS FT. Key Responsibilities

This is a permanent role within a supportive and diverse leadership team. The successful candidate will be a resilient and skilled practitioner, dedicated to delivering high-quality clinical care and advocating for mental health within a hospital setting. This position offers a unique chance to develop supervisory, management, and service development skills alongside clinical expertise.

The emergency pathway focuses on the assessment and support of individuals of all ages who present to the emergency department. Candidates must be adaptable and prepared to work with a variety of individuals, often outside traditional service boundaries.

The postholder will be responsible for providing direct clinical and operational management support to the team of liaison practitioners within the urgent pathway, ensuring the maintenance of a safe and high-quality service. Candidates should demonstrate the ability to work effectively under pressure and possess a solid understanding of clinical and risk assessment, along with excellent communication and supervisory skills.

Given the nature of the service, this role requires availability during daytime hours across seven days, including weekends and bank holidays, to ensure comprehensive senior cover for the liaison service.

Qualifications and Experience

Essential Qualifications

  • Registered Mental Health Nurse (RMN) with current registration
  • Completion of a mentorship or practice teacher qualification, or willingness to undertake
  • Relevant short courses and experience at the postgraduate diploma level

Desirable Qualifications

  • Registered General Nurse or qualification related to physical health
  • Degree-level education or progression towards it
  • Non-medical prescribing qualification
  • Approved Mental Health Professional (AMHP) status or willingness to pursue
  • Formal teaching qualification

Essential Experience

  • Significant experience as a liaison mental health practitioner at Band 6 or above in a hospital environment
  • Experience in multidisciplinary collaboration in mental health care with complex cases
  • Proven track record of meeting objectives and deadlines within a performance management framework
  • Experience in providing daily clinical leadership and operational management
  • Experience supervising junior staff
  • Experience in joint working with external agencies
