Tenure-Track Faculty Position in Optical Engineering

The Commonwealth of Virginia is seeking a highly qualified individual to fill a tenure-track faculty position in Optical Engineering at the Associate or Full Professor level. This position will be a key contributor to the growth and development of the Optical Engineering program at Norfolk State University.
Key Responsibilities- Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in optical and electrical engineering, including coursework in geometrical and physical optics, optical system design, and optoelectronics.
- Advise and mentor undergraduate and graduate students in research and academic pursuits.
- Participate in departmental activities related to the future growth and direction of the Optical Engineering program.
- Manage a faculty-directed research effort in support of the Engineering Department graduate programs, including participation in efforts to integrate quantum science and engineering into the graduate and undergraduate programs.
- Ph.D. degree in Optical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field.
- Demonstrated publication record.
- Record of successful grantsmanship.
- Ability to teach graduate and undergraduate courses in the Optical Engineering curriculum.
- Prior administrative or leadership experience.
- Ability to design and/or teach graduate and undergraduate courses in quantum optics, nanophotonics, Fourier optics, optical materials, modeling for the design of optical systems, augmented and virtual reality, or integrated photonic systems.
- Industrial or collegiate experience in cleanroom operation or usage.
