Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Lead Nurse to join our Diabetes and Endocrinology team at North Middlesex University Hospital. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing clinical leadership and expertise in the management of patients with diabetes and endocrine disorders.

Main Responsibilities
  1. Provide advanced practice nursing care to patients with diabetes and endocrine disorders, including assessment, diagnosis, and management of complex cases.
  2. Lead and develop the Diabetes and Endocrinology CNS team, ensuring high-quality patient care and effective service delivery.
  3. Collaborate with medical and multi-professional teams to improve patient outcomes and experience, including reducing admissions and length of stay.
  4. Develop and implement policies, procedures, and guidelines for the management of diabetes and endocrine disorders.
  5. Conduct audits and quality improvement initiatives to ensure compliance with national and local standards.
  6. Provide education and training to patients, carers, and healthcare professionals on diabetes and endocrine disorders.
  7. Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and present individual care studies or relevant data on service.
  8. Act as a patient advocate and counselor, ensuring informed discussion and choices regarding treatment options.
Requirements
  • Registered Nurse on NMC register.
  • MSc or working towards it.
  • Post-registration course in managing patients with diabetes and/or endocrine disease.
  • Non-Medical Prescriber.
  • Leadership course.
