Join National Grid's Graduate Programme

We are seeking a talented Graduate Civil Engineer to join our team at National Grid Electricity Distribution (NGED). As a Graduate Civil Engineer, you will play a key role in the operation and maintenance of our 132kV electricity network, comprising overhead lines, underground cables, and substations.

Our Graduate Programme is a 18-month development pathway that will equip you with the essential skills required to succeed in your career at National Grid. You will attend in-person and virtual development sessions, receive coaching and mentoring, and have access to a range of learning modules, including working safely.

As a Graduate Civil Engineer, you will be responsible for:

  • Organising and monitoring individual tasks to ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, and on budget.
  • Minimising risk to the security of the distribution network.
  • Identifying training needs of own and other team members and providing training in civil activities.
  • Identifying opportunities for improvement in performance and implementing or recommending changes.
