Deputy Head Teacher Job Description

Excelsior Multi Academy Trust is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Deputy Head Teacher to join our team. As a key member of our senior leadership team, you will play a vital role in the day-to-day running of the school and contribute to a positive ethos for learning.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Leadership and Management: Deputise for the Headteacher in their absence and take a major role in the day-to-day running of the school.
  • Teaching and Learning: Lead Teaching and Learning across the school and ensure that an exceptional curriculum is in place.
  • English Leadership: Lead English across the school and develop an effective approach to teaching and learning.
  • Attendance and Data: Lead Attendance and Data across the school and ensure that all staff are aware of their responsibilities.
  • Teaching: Teach Year 6 morning sessions and develop an effective approach to teaching and learning.
  • Coaching and Development: Develop an effective Coaching and Development approach underpinned by coaching to ensure all staff are 'great'.
  • Curriculum Development: Support and oversee the development of an inclusive, exciting, stimulating, and creative curriculum.
  • Community Engagement: Promote the values and achievements of the school to the community.
  • Resource Management: Advise on the school's resource needs and co-ordinate these resources.
  • Pupil Progress: Have ambitious expectations for all pupils, including those with SEND and disabilities, and children in receipt of pupil premium.
  • Staff Development: Assist with the appointment and induction of new staff and provide monitoring and support for NQTs and students as necessary.
  • Behaviour and Discipline: Support and promote the school's behaviour policy.
  • Budget Planning: Support the Headteacher and Governors in annual budget planning and monitoring.
  • School Development: Assist in the preparation, implementation, and monitoring of the School Development Plan.
