About the Role

Markfield Medical Centre is seeking a skilled and enthusiastic Healthcare Assistant to join our team. As a Healthcare Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting our practice nursing and administrative teams in delivering high-quality clinical and administrative services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the practice nursing team with health promotion programs and clinical tasks
  • Undertake new patient health checks and baseline observations
  • Facilitate routine and 24-hour BP monitoring and advise patients accordingly
  • Undertake wound care, dressings, and other clinical tasks as required
  • Support the practice nurse with the management of chronic disease clinics
  • Carry out BMI checks and act as a chaperone as required
  • Undertake venepuncture and administer flu vaccinations and others under PSDs
  • Carry out ECGs as requested and ensure specimens are recorded and ready for onward transportation
  • Provide support during minor operations and ensure all clinical rooms are adequately stocked and prepared for each session
  • Ensure fridges are cleaned routinely in accordance with extant guidance and temperature checks
  • Ensure clinical waste is removed from clinical areas and sharps bins replaced in accordance with the organisation's IPC policy
  • Deliver opportunistic health promotion where appropriate

About Us

Markfield Medical Centre is a rural practice caring for 7100 patients. We pride ourselves on a friendly patient-centred service and our patient survey results reflect this. We are an organised practice with high QOF achievements and have a good reputation in the locality.

We have an excellent team of 4 GP partners, 2 salaried GPs, a team of 10 receptionists, secretaries, and administrators, 2 HCAs, 2 Practice Nurses, a Lead prescribing nurse, Pharmacist, and a Clinical Practitioner. We aim to deliver as many services to our patients within primary care as we can.

The successful candidate will be enthusiastic, motivated, and a good team player. They will have experience and confidence in managing patients face-to-face, as well as good organisational and communication skills. This HCA role is developing in the Practice and therefore a willingness to learn and a flexible approach is essential.
