About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to join our team at Supply Star Recruitment Limited. As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting students with special educational needs, ensuring they receive the tailored assistance they require to succeed in their learning journey.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide 1:1 or small group support for students with SEND, including those with Autism, ADHD, dyslexia, and other learning disabilities.
  • Assist in the implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and other tailored learning strategies.
  • Support the emotional, social, and physical development of students.
  • Help to create a safe, supportive, and engaging classroom environment.
  • Monitor and report student progress to teachers and SENDCO.
  • Work collaboratively with teaching staff to adapt resources and materials to meet the needs of individual students.
  • Encourage positive behaviour and support students in overcoming barriers to learning.
  • Support students in developing life skills, confidence, and independence.
Requirements
  • A passion for working with children with special educational needs.
  • Previous experience working as a SEND Teaching Assistant or in a similar role is highly desirable.
  • Understanding of various learning difficulties and disabilities, and how to support students effectively.
  • A Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification, or equivalent, is preferred but not essential.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to be patient, empathetic, and adaptable in a dynamic classroom environment.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to work as part of a team.
