Work Environment

As the leader of a dedicated team, you will report to the Countryside Manager and oversee a group comprising 2 Rangers and 2 Assistant Rangers. Your base will be in a picturesque estate.

You will foster relationships within the local community, acting as a representative of the Trust and sharing insights about the impactful work being done by your team. Your enthusiasm will inspire others to appreciate and cherish this remarkable area.

The estate encompasses 4600 acres of diverse landscapes, including parkland, woodlands, and lakes, attracting both tourists and local residents alike.

Key Responsibilities

You will develop and manage a dynamic work schedule for your team, supporting fellow rangers in their conservation and community engagement efforts.

Your role will be crucial in upholding high standards of property maintenance and presentation while cultivating strong professional relationships with colleagues, contractors, and local land managers.

Additionally, you will communicate our conservation initiatives effectively to various audiences through events, guided walks, and community interactions. Your innovative ideas will contribute to generating income for our countryside sites, enhancing the team's overall success.

Proficiency in operating machinery and equipment is essential, with support available for obtaining necessary certifications and refresher training as needed.

Candidate Profile

We are looking for individuals with the following qualifications:

  • Proven experience in land management, access, and conservation, including project delivery and contractor supervision.
  • Experience in developing and implementing work programs that achieve conservation and access goals.
  • Strong team player with a background in leading and managing teams of staff and/or volunteers.
  • Practical skills across various habitats and estate management, with certifications in chainsaw operation, tractor driving, and trailer towing.
  • Ability to work safely, ensuring compliance through risk assessments and safety procedures.
  • A demonstrated commitment to nature and the outdoors, engaging visitors to help them appreciate our mission.
  • Experience in tree safety management and conducting tree inspections.
