Site Ecologist Job Description

At Civil Works Alliance, we're dedicated to constructing monumental projects while ensuring our activities enhance and protect the natural environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Offer on-the-ground surveys, inspections, and watching briefs to ensure ecological requirements are met.
  2. Find practical, cost-effective solutions to ecological challenges faced by our construction teams.
  3. Work closely with design teams, clients, and stakeholders to integrate ecological considerations seamlessly.
  4. Provide ecological consultancy services, including surveys, mitigation, enhancement design, and on-site support.
  5. Actively contribute to Biodiversity Net Gain initiatives and help foster a culture of continual improvement in ecological practices.
Requirements:
  1. Expert knowledge of ecological management, mitigation, and legislation relevant to development.
  2. Academic background in Ecology or a related subject.
  3. Commercial awareness and understanding of environmental management for construction sites.
  4. Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  5. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  6. Active membership in the Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management (CIEEM).
  7. Full UK driver's license and willingness to travel.
  8. Experience working on large-scale infrastructure construction projects.
Desirable Qualities and Experience:
  1. Holding at least one protected species survey license.
