This role offers a fantastic opportunity to contribute to the development of the Group's Financial Compliance and Governance function and work closely with the team to build up the programme.

As a Group Finance Compliance and Governance Accountant, you will report to the Group Finance Compliance and Governance Manager and be responsible for:

  • Summarizing and communicating the requirements of future changes to UK Accounting Standards to key stakeholders within the team and the wider business.
  • Assisting in the project for developing and delivering a programme to implement changes to meet the requirements identified, including enhancements to the Group's processes or internal controls, and liaising with other Group functions as required.
  • Providing technical guidance and mentoring to other members of the team and assisting in developing training material where required.
  • Assisting in developing and improving the governance and internal controls environment around financial processes across the Group.
  • Assisting in evaluating and implementing new systems/tools for monitoring and managing compliance with controls.
  • Reviewing, maintaining, and developing Group Directives/policies and Finance and Accounting manuals.
  • Assisting in reviewing reconciliation of subsidiary statutory accounts to the consolidation packs submitted for group consolidation purposes.

Requirements:

  • Qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA)
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English
  • Internal/external audit experience
  • Good knowledge of internal controls and risks within main process areas
  • Project management experience
  • Experience of using GRC (Governance Risk and Compliance) software
  • Experience of implementing new accounting standards, either in industry or in a consulting role assisting clients (particularly IFRS 15 or IFRS 16).
  • Experience of implementing Internal Financial Controls in a large company, or working in a consultancy providing a similar service.
