Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced and dedicated SENCO / ALNCO to provide high-quality, individualized learning programmes for students with additional needs.

The role

As the SENCo, your primary focus will be on ensuring that students with additional learning needs receive the appropriate support and are provided with personalized learning programmes. This non-teaching role centres on staff management, leadership, and close collaboration with various stakeholders to create a thriving inclusive educational environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Foster a supportive and collaborative environment where staff are encouraged to grow and excel.
  • Develop and oversee individualized support and learning programmes for students with SEND, ensuring these plans meet each student's unique needs.
  • Monitor and evaluate the progress of students with SEND, adjusting interventions as necessary to ensure optimal outcomes.
  • Work closely with students, parents, external agencies, and other stakeholders to ensure comprehensive and collaborative support is provided.
  • Stay informed about current SEND legislation and best practices, ensuring the college remains compliant and at the forefront of inclusive education.

Essential:

  • Significant experience in a SENCo or similar role within an educational setting.
  • Proven ability to develop and manage individualized support and learning programmes.
  • In-depth knowledge of SEND legislation, including the SEND Code of Practice.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills, with a collaborative approach to working with stakeholders.
