ABOUT THE JOB:
The CNC Manufacturing Specialist will concentrate on **developing CNC programming strategies** to manage the contour path machining of metal and composite components using automated machinery.
WHAT YOU WILL BRING:
- A robust background in precision engineering, particularly in the manufacturing of mechanical parts with stringent tolerances across diverse materials
- A minimum of 5 years' experience in offline CNC programming utilizing CAD/CAM software within a lean manufacturing framework
- Familiarity with Gibbs CAM software is a plus
- Skilled in using precision measurement tools such as CMM, micrometers, calipers, height gauges, and bore gauges
- Possession of at least NVQ Level 3 or equivalent qualifications, such as a completed apprenticeship or HNC in Mechanical Engineering
- Experience with project management methodologies like Prince2 is advantageous
WHAT YOU WILL DO:
- Examine technical drawings and design specifications to ascertain dimensions, cutting tools, machine speeds, and feed rates
- Evaluate routing during the programming phase to ensure the efficient use of CNC machinery through innovative planning
- Calculate angular and linear dimensions, radii, and curvatures, and outline the sequence of machining operations
- Develop, modify, and optimize CNC programs in accordance with routed operations and create setup documentation
- Collaborate with production staff, Shift Managers, and suppliers regarding tooling and fixtures
- Prepare bills of materials and routings for manufactured components, assisting in make-or-buy analyses
- Implement cost-saving measures and advocate for Lean Manufacturing principles
- Proactively identify opportunities for Continuous Improvement initiatives
