About the Role

We're seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Legal Counsel to join our team at Checkout Group. As a key member of our legal department, you will play a critical role in shaping our approach to privacy and data protection.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Privacy and Data Protection Expertise: Advise on privacy and data protection matters across our global operations, working closely with external counsel as needed.
  2. Collaborative Approach: Partner with our commercial, product, engineering, and information security teams to provide real-time legal advice and support.
  3. Regulatory Compliance: Provide legal support for the development, launch, and management of innovative payment products and services, ensuring compliance with global privacy requirements.
  4. Regulatory Updates: Advise key business functions on new regulatory developments and the implications of emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence.
  5. Regulatory Relationships: Support relationships with data privacy regulators and ensure effective governance of our operations.
  6. Team Leadership: Provide mentorship and guidance to junior legal team members, fostering a collaborative and high-performance environment.
Requirements
  1. Qualifications: Qualified solicitor/lawyer (5+ PQE) with strong post-qualification experience in-house or in private practice.
  2. Experience: Significant experience in a dedicated privacy and data protection role.
  3. Project Management: Ability to handle and deliver on numerous high-priority projects concurrently.
  4. Problem-Solving: Practical, solutions-oriented focus to solving legal challenges.
  5. Communication: Strong communication skills and the ability to articulate and explain complex legal issues clearly and concisely.
