Child Psychiatrist Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Consultant Child Psychiatrist to join our team at Surrey and Borders Partnership NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will play a vital role in providing medical input to our School-Based Needs MDT and safety huddle/clinical risk management processes.
Main Responsibilities- Provide medical input to our School-Based Needs MDT and safety huddle/clinical risk management processes to ensure robust formulation and risk management within the service.
- Support the initiation of medication for Children & Young People (CYP) who are engaging in treatment with SBN clinicians to enable this work to continue and avoid unnecessary referrals into CT teams.
- Provide case consultation to SBN professionals to reduce unnecessary referrals into CT/specialist services and ensure continuity of care for CYP and families.
- Work together with the SBN teams to develop and roll out a new and innovative holistic integrated ADHD early intervention pathway, providing medical prescription alongside school-focused interventions and interface with local GPs.
- MB BS or equivalent recognised medical qualification.
- Full medical registration with a license to practice.
- Approval under Section 12 of the Mental Health Act (or within 6 to 12 months of the time of interview/assessment) or equivalent.
- Knowledge of legislation, Department of Health Guidance and literature and its implications for clinical practice.
- Knowledge of NHS strategic vision in the Next Stage Review (High-Quality Care for All).
- Excellent clinical skills using bio-psycho-social perspective and wide medical knowledge.
- Experience working with various patient groups presenting with the full range of clinical severity across different care settings, including community, inpatient, and specialist teams.
- Specific training qualification/certificate or attendance on a recognised teaching course.
We offer a competitive salary of £99,532 to £131,964 a year, plus a £149 fringe allowance. This is a unique opportunity to support the development of a new innovative pathway, working across services and organisations to play a key role in supporting Children & Young People (CYP) to access the support they need in a timely and sustainable way.
