The ideal candidate will have significant experience managing financial services within the NHS, with a strong background in financial management and leadership. Key responsibilities will include:

  • Ensuring the preparation of all income and expenditure budgets;
  • Estimating the value of reserves needed to provide for pay awards and inflation;
  • Maintaining establishment control and budgetary control during budget setting and mid-financial year;
  • Providing a mechanism for analyzing changes to budgets and a full audit trail;
  • Leading on external reporting to the ICB, including underlying position and run-rate analysis;
  • Providing sensitivity analysis against forecasts to ensure financial risks are appropriately accounted for;
  • Identifying trends and areas of concern, and developing corrective and mitigating actions;
  • Providing financial support and advice to the Contracting Team to ensure contract variations reflect monies due to the organization;
  • Supporting the Finance Business Partners to monitor key areas.

The successful candidate will be a strategic leader with a strong understanding of financial management principles and practices. They will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with senior stakeholders and teams.

Key qualifications and experience include:

  • Degree-level qualification;
  • CCAB qualification;
  • 5+ years of previous NHS finance experience, with 3+ years in a senior management role;
  • Up-to-date knowledge of accounting standards and NHS finance manual.
