  • Key Responsibilities:
  • Work independently to hold and effectively manage a small complex caseload, including the highest risk, high need, looked after children.
  • Lead on family network meetings and case mappings, conducting in-depth and ongoing family assessments of social need and managing risk to children, with particular focus on parental capacity and capacity to change.
  • Assist the Team Manager in the recruitment, induction, supervision, and appraisal of team members, ensuring effective management of performance in accordance with the council's policies and procedures.
  • Seek advice and professional second opinion as required in relation to legal issues, interventions, and plans impacting children, young people, and families involved with statutory services.
  • Develop and implement realistic child-centred plans within a review timeline that manage and reduce identified risks and meet the needs of the child, utilizing evidence-informed approaches, clear analysis, and professional judgment, including collaboration with multi-agency partners.
  • Maintain and update case notes and other records pertaining to the child/children under their responsibility.
  • Contribute to planning and reviewing the cases of children in care.
  • Provide practice education to social work students on practice placements in the team, support onboarding and induction, and offer mentoring and work-shadowing/work experience opportunities.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development to enhance skills and knowledge.
