Role OverviewAs a Marine Fire Safety Specialist, you will operate within a sensitive defense contract environment, dedicated to safeguarding personnel and assets from fire-related incidents and accidents. Your role will also focus on minimizing reputational and financial risks while ensuring the protection of sensitive information and assets.
Working collaboratively, the Marine Fire Safety Specialist is tasked with ensuring the safety of personnel and property, which necessitates the ability to access, navigate, and exit confined spaces. Maintaining a requisite level of physical fitness is essential, as is passing a medical examination. You will be expected to work in low visibility, at heights, in confined spaces, and utilize breathing apparatus. This position requires shift work throughout the year.
There may be occasions requiring work in challenging conditions, including but not limited to elevated areas, confined spaces, and outdoor environments. Your training will equip you to handle these situations effectively.
Key Responsibilities- Ensure all hot work is conducted in compliance with Hot Work Permit protocols.
- Monitor general fire safety issues, including gas identification, flammable materials management, and safe storage practices.
- Conduct thorough inspections of work areas and adjacent spaces prior to commencing any hot work.
- Ensure visibility and adherence to all safety signage and warnings, and maintain proficiency in the use of all portable fire-fighting equipment.
- Collaborate with various trades during fire watch duties and manage the flushing and testing of systems before hot work begins.
- Perform any additional tasks as directed by the Fire Manager, within your capabilities.
- Right to work in the UK.
- Five-year verifiable work history.
- Must have held a British passport for the past five years.
- Strong team collaboration skills.
- First Aid at Work certification.
- Ability to work independently following appropriate training.
- Solid understanding of workplace health and safety regulations.
- Effective communication skills.
