Building Operations Team Supervisor

Position Overview
The Estates division at University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Trust comprises a team of proficient electrical, mechanical, and plumbing specialists, skilled building artisans, and committed support personnel. We are seeking a proactive and dedicated Building Operations Team Supervisor to become part of our team. Candidates should possess substantial experience in a construction trade and aspire to advance their professional journey.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee all facets of property maintenance for the trust's facilities and additional properties managed on behalf of the trust.
- Supervise and fulfill line management responsibilities for trade personnel.
- Engage in the training and development of junior staff and apprentices, ensuring they gain practical experience, skill enhancement, and competency-based training.
- Obtain training and designation as an Authorised Person for roles within HTM 1 to 8.
- Ensure that materials, technical resources, and access are readily available for trade personnel to perform their tasks effectively.
- Manage contractor personnel on-site, ensuring adherence to HTM, Infection Prevention, contractor control, and Health & Safety regulations.
- Assist the site Building and Engineering Managers as needed to conduct estate assessments, manage project initiatives, and monitor energy consumption.

Job Requirements
Qualifications
Essential
- Recognized craft apprenticeship or equivalent training with relevant certification.
- NVQ3, HNC / ONC or equivalent in Building or Civil Engineering.
Desirable
- NEBOSH General or Construction certification.
- NEBOSH Fire certification.
- Leadership qualification.
Experience
Essential
- Proven experience in a management role within a construction environment.
- Experience in training and mentoring apprentices.
Desirable
- Experience in healthcare settings and comprehensive knowledge of HTM 01 to 08.
- Experience in people and budget management.
Skills
Essential
- Strong communication skills across all levels.
- Ability to analyze data and interpret detailed construction drawings.
Desirable
- Proven negotiation skills.
- Demonstrated leadership and team-building capabilities.
