Job Overview

At TE Connectivity, we are seeking a skilled Toolmaker to join our team. As a Toolmaker, you will play a critical role in the manufacturing process, working with diverse backgrounds and industries to create a safer, more sustainable, and connected world.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manufacture new tools and repair/renovate existing ones to exacting tolerances and dimensions.
  • Analyze blueprints, sketches, models, and engineering or shop specifications to complete assignments.
  • Recommend revisions in design and/or substitutions in material based on machinability or fabrication problems encountered.
  • Solve problems relating to unusual materials, machine settings, fabrication methods, and production process.
  • Maintain housekeeping and organization of the work area and follow TE Connectivity's EH&S policies and procedures.

Main Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Manufacture new tools, repair and renovate old tools.
  • Plan jobs through various stages of manufacture, deciding the correct machinery and processes to be used to achieve the stated accuracy and quality.
  • Operate machines and carry out all other activities in a safe and responsible manner and maintain a clean and tidy environment within the department.
  • Achieve tasks within the set time to meet departmental targets.
  • Carry out any other reasonable tasks as may be requested from time to time by the Tooling Manager or the Engineering Manager.
  • Ensure that all tooling-related activities are carried out in accordance with the appropriate company procedures.
  • Observe Health and Safety regulations as laid down in company procedures and Government legislation.

Requirements

  • Good general education required with numeracy and perception essential.
  • Must be capable of manual grinding, turning, milling.
  • Must be able to read engineering drawings.

  • Must be able to work to very fine tolerances and be able to read engineering drawings.
  • Needs initiative in problem-solving and providing solutions to tool manufacturing problems.
  • High degree of concentration required to operate machinery and tools safely.
