Research Software Engineer Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled Research Software Engineer to join our team at the University of Oxford, working closely with Professor Deirdre Hollingsworth and the neglected tropical diseases (NTD) modelling consortium. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing and implementing high-quality software that will directly inform global and national policy on diseases affecting low-income populations worldwide.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and implement software solutions to support research outcomes and translational impact
  • Collaborate with researchers and consultant teams on software projects, providing technical expertise and domain knowledge
  • Contribute to research ideas and work, and develop training material and facilitate workshops and training courses
  • Follow and promote research software engineering and reproducible research best practices within the University of Oxford and the wider research community
Requirements
  • Hold a degree in Biostatistics, Mathematics, Statistics, Computing, Mathematical Biology, or a related subject
  • Experience in software development in a research and/or industrial setting
  • Ability to independently design, manage, and implement complex programming projects
  • Experience with one programming language used for research (e.g. Python, C++, C, Matlab, R, Java, Javascript, Fortran, Julia) and conversant with at least one more
