Murray McIntosh is seeking a dedicated Transducer Engineer to join our team on a permanent basis. The ideal candidate will possess a wealth of experience in transducer technology, particularly in the fields of ultrasonic and acoustic applications.

We are particularly interested in individuals with a strong background in research and development, as well as experience in managing new product introductions (NPI).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, characterize, prototype, and validate transducers at the component level to improve the performance, reliability, and production yield of sensor products.
  • Develop comprehensive design requirements, technical specifications, and experimental validation reports to facilitate the transition of transducer designs into production.
  • Specify essential characteristics, measurement methods, testing protocols, and metrology equipment vital for the manufacturing and assembly processes, with a focus on acoustics, mechanics, and piezoelectric performance.
  • Provide support for electronic design and assembly related to transducers in new product development initiatives.
  • Collaborate with Manufacturing Engineering, Quality Assurance, and Automation teams to enhance automated manufacturing and assembly processes, quality control measures, and yield data analysis for transducers.
  • Conduct investigations and root cause analyses on transducer-related challenges and subsystems.
  • Generate reports on theoretical proposals, finite element analysis (FEA), design concepts, and experimental outcomes, while developing standardized reporting tools.
  • Stay updated on and assess emerging transducer technologies.
  • Oversee and deliver specific transducer research projects or sub-projects.
  • Provide estimates and progress updates on work breakdown structures, tasks, and timelines for transducer research projects or sub-projects.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • BSc or MSc in Acoustics, Physics, Electronics, Instrumentation Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Experience in piezoelectric component-level design with a solid understanding of manufacturing constraints.
  • Proficiency in system-level design and analysis for audio and ultrasonic applications.
  • Demonstrated expertise in the design, prototyping, testing, and validation of transducers.
  • Experience with new product introduction and the specification of critical process parameters for performance and reliability within a Manufacturing Engineering context.
  • Competency in utilizing commercial finite element analysis (FEA) modeling software for electro-acoustics and mechanical analysis.
