The Accounting Advisory Services Director will be responsible for leading teams in delivering a broad range of technical accounting assignments which address various scenarios in the practical application of financial reporting standards under IFRS and UK GAAP.
This role provides the opportunity to work on a broad range of projects, offering the benefit of exposure to, and learning across, a variety of accounting topics.
The Accounting Advisory Services Director will be part of a team that collaborates to deliver high-quality services to our clients.
The role involves:
- Delivery of all aspects of client engagements, from proposal and budget setting stage, through to completion, with responsibility for financial performance of engagements.
- Managing, coaching and reviewing work product of junior team members.
- Preparing client advice for review.
- Analysing client transactions or structures and providing detailed technical accounting analysis, including drafting formal accounting opinions.
- Assisting clients in their implementation programme for new accounting standards or new accounting frameworks.
- Identifying business development opportunities and developing and implementing related strategies.
- Working effectively as a team member, sharing knowledge and communicating clearly with all levels of the team.
- Liaising with other departments, as necessary.
The Director will also be expected to be involved in profile raising and business development activities for the Accounting Advisory Services department.
Key Skills and ExperienceThe Accounting Advisory Services Director will possess the following skills and experience:
Qualification & Experience
- A sound technical understanding from completing the ACA/ACCA (or equivalent) accounting qualification and a robust technical accounting knowledge of IFRS, UK GAAP/FRS 102 and UK Company Law.
- Experience of working in a professional services firm in a similar financial reporting role.
Technical
- Extensive experience in evaluating technical issues, analysing facts, consulting and delivering solutions to clients.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, especially writing formal reasoned technical responses.
- Experience of writing technical publications.
- Strong research skills.
Project / Client Management
- Exceptional client management skills, and a track record of retaining existing clients and winning repeat work based on the ability to understand and meet their requirements.
- Strong project management skills and the ability to prioritise and organise work, with strong attention to detail.
- Ability to manage a team and budgets and negotiate fees with clients.
- Ability to provide an innovative approach in delivering bespoke service offerings, based on the specific needs of the client.
