Position Overview

An exceptional opportunity exists for a dedicated and proactive individual to become a part of our Programmed Investigation Unit (PIU) team, delivering outstanding and secure patient care across various specialties, including Endocrinology, Rheumatology, Gastroenterology, Immunology, and Neurology.

We are seeking to recruit a seasoned nurse with substantial expertise in endocrine care, biologic infusions, acute medicine, or emergency ambulatory nursing. The ideal candidate will be a compassionate, enthusiastic, and inspiring professional, eager to collaborate within a multidisciplinary team at our PIU–Denmark Hill site under the auspices of King's College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.
You will receive comprehensive training and mentorship to enhance your skills and knowledge.

The PIU operates as a nurse-led service, committed to managing patients undergoing various endocrine dynamic assessments and treatments, as well as those receiving biologic IV infusions.
The successful candidate will be a highly motivated nurse who will play a pivotal role in advancing the PIU day unit service. Registration with the NMC and proven experience at Band 5 is essential.

Key Responsibilities


• Support the PIU service, including the administration of IV biologic infusions.

• Assist in delivering nursing care for patients under the specialties of endocrinology, rheumatology, immunology, gastroenterology, and neurology.

• Help manage the PIU caseload effectively.

• Provide specialized nursing guidance and support to patients, their families, and healthcare professionals following diagnosis and treatment.

• Initiate and order biochemical blood tests, interpreting abnormal results.

• Ensure the delivery of high-quality, evidence-based nursing care, assessing the health and nursing needs of patients, their families, and caregivers.

• Actively participate in evaluating the immediate needs of the clinical area and ensure they are addressed, seeking external advice and support as necessary.

• Facilitate seamless service delivery through effective Multidisciplinary Team (MDT) collaboration and communication.

• Adhere to established protocols in all aspects of care delivery.

• Follow up with patients under supervision, ensuring all pertinent information is available for informed decision-making regarding treatment.

• Demonstrate proficiency in discharging patients under nurse-led protocols.

• Engage service users in providing feedback on their experiences and suggestions for service enhancement.
