Position Overview:

We are seeking an exceptional Academic Tutor in Architectural Research to collaborate closely with the Dean of School and the Head of Programme. This role involves conceptualizing, coordinating, and managing instruction in professional practice studies as part of the RIBA/ARB Part II validation of the MA Architecture programme. Our institution has a proven history of delivering an innovative professional studies curriculum tailored to the engaged and critical students of the RCA. It is essential that the candidate not only meets professional criteria but also inspires students to recognize the importance of professional knowledge and skills in their practice and aspirations for innovation in the field.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Stay informed about recent developments in professional architectural education in the UK.
  • Support the programme in meeting professional criteria and integrating them into the curriculum.
  • Act as a Professional Studies Advisor (PSA) for the programme and provide guidance on the Professional Experience Development Record (PEDR) to students when appropriate.

Qualifications:

  • A first degree in a relevant Architecture specialization.
  • RIBA/ARB Part 3 or an equivalent qualification.
  • Demonstrated ability to supervise academic work at the master's level.
  • Experience in designing and teaching courses, as well as setting and evaluating written assignments at undergraduate or postgraduate levels.
  • Evidence of, or clear potential for, producing research outputs of at least 3* REF quality aligned with the strategic direction of the College.
