Position Summary
The Head of IT Audit is a pivotal role responsible for the execution of the Global Technology and Cybersecurity Audit Program, tailored to the requirements of the European market. Reporting directly to the Chief Auditor for Visa Europe, this position demands extensive experience in evaluating audit coverage for essential IT and cybersecurity services, contributing to the global audit strategy to ensure its relevance and effectiveness.
This role is integral to the Visa Europe Internal Audit management team, focusing on the audit coverage of Technology and Cybersecurity risks pertinent to Visa Europe and its local entities. The incumbent will oversee the planning, execution, reporting, and follow-up of technology audits, ensuring compliance with European regulations and considerations. Collaboration with key stakeholders and audit teams in the US is essential, requiring flexibility to accommodate communication across time zones.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and sustain professional relationships with senior IT management across Europe to remain informed about changes in business activities and objectives, ensuring an appropriate audit response.
- Engage effectively with European and UK regulators, demonstrating a strong understanding of the regulatory landscape.
- Oversee and coordinate the complete audit cycle for audits primarily conducted by US auditors.
- Lead the execution of selected business audits or projects as necessary.
- Collaborate on the audit scope, work program, and testing plan for each IT audit assignment.
- Exhibit exceptional written and verbal communication skills throughout the audit process, addressing the appropriate levels of Visa and Audit management.
- Encourage innovative ideas and methods for executing projects and enhancing internal infrastructure, demonstrating commitment to Visa's strategic vision.
- Work collaboratively with audit project team members to achieve departmental objectives.
- Maintain a comprehensive understanding of Visa's business and technology landscape.
- Assess the efficiency and effectiveness of business units during projects, aligning with Visa's overarching strategy.
Audit Support:
During audits, provide on-site support to ensure the quality of IT Audit services:
- Ensure audits incorporate European considerations within their scope and adhere to departmental and professional standards.
- Review draft audit findings to ensure issues are appropriately vetted.
- Evaluate the adequacy and timeliness of management's responses to significant weaknesses identified in reports.
Business Audits or Special Projects:
As assigned, coordinate and lead audit engagements, preparing and approving the audit scope, work program, and testing plan. Provide ongoing support to ensure audits progress according to established timelines, managing both Internal Audit management and stakeholders throughout the process.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in computer science, business, accounting, management information systems, or a related field.
- 15+ years of IT experience, ideally as an IT auditor within a large financial institution or with Big 4 assurance experience.
- Relevant IT certifications (CISA, CISSP) are highly desirable.
- Proven experience managing audits in complex operational and regulatory environments.
- Ability to plan and execute IT audits focusing on General Computer Controls and various technical domains.
- Strong knowledge of information security and network control audits.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present effectively to senior management and regulatory bodies.
- Leadership capabilities to contribute to the Visa Europe Internal Audit management team.
- Strong analytical and organizational skills.
- Flexibility to adjust schedules to accommodate stakeholders and auditors in different locations.
- Experience in managing teams and evaluating controls associated with complex business processes.
- Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as required.
