MI Analyst Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled MI Analyst to join our team at Effective Energy Solutions. As a key member of our IT/Data function, you will play a crucial role in leveraging value-adding insights from our vast data resources.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and maintain financial models to support management decision-making and reporting.
  • Lead the ongoing business performance forecasting cycle, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Investigate and improve modelling and forecast assumptions to enhance output quality.
  • Design and maintain our reporting capability, including data architecture development.
  • Prepare and present financial and non-financial analyses to stakeholders.
  • Analyse and report on key performance indicators, driving business growth and improvement.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop and enhance business systems, ensuring seamless data integration.
  • Produce reports using Power BI, delivering actionable insights into business performance.
  • Identify data collection process gaps and drive requirements for change.
  • Develop expertise in our data tools and software, including SQL, Excel, Power BI, and Microsoft Dynamics.
  • Support colleagues in using developed reports and tools, promoting data-driven decision-making.
Requirements:
  • High commercial acumen and ability to handle multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Excellent analytical skills, supplemented by experience in data analysis and reporting.
  • Good communication skills, with experience in maintaining strong relationships with stakeholders from diverse backgrounds.
  • Proven ability to deliver results and work collaboratively towards group objectives.
  • Desire to learn and pioneer new ways of working, with a focus on data-driven decision-making.
  • Basic knowledge of ETL processes and a Bachelor's degree in a related field, such as data science, business analytics, economics, mathematics, or a similar field.
Desirable Skills:
  • Experience with Power BI, DAX, and Power Query.
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
  • Fundamental understanding of database language (TSQL).
  • Programming skills in Python or R for advanced data manipulation and statistical analysis.
  • Experience with Big Data tools, such as Hadoop, Spark, or BigQuery.
  • Data governance and compliance awareness, including GDPR in the UK.
