About the Role:

Avara Foods is a leading food business in the UK, supplying chicken and turkey to major supermarkets and restaurants. We're looking for a skilled Maintenance Engineer to join our team at our Telford site.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Optimise machinery output and product quality
  • Minimise plant downtime through effective preventative maintenance
  • Respond to breakdowns and identify root causes
  • Communicate with the Engineering Shift Manager and operations department
  • Follow engineering standards and good hygiene practice
  • Ensure all activities are carried out within health and safety guidelines
  • Report any Health and Safety, Animal Welfare and Environmental Issues
  • Demonstrate basic fault finding techniques
  • Raise Stock and Non-Stock request forms
  • Use the CMMS system for spare parts and to log and complete jobs

Requirements:

  • Advanced Engineering Apprenticeship in mechanical or electrical disciplines
  • Solid Engineering experience, ideally within food manufacturing
  • Familiarity with process machinery or equivalent equipment
  • Mechanical fitting skills, machining, welding and fabrication experience advantageous
  • Ability to mentor colleagues
  • Self-motivated attitude with ability to multi-task and thrive in a timeline-driven environment
  • Industrial refrigeration experience desirable but not essential
  • Desirable IEE 17th or 18th edition, Advanced Electrical qualification and good knowledge of PLCs, Variable speed drives and control systems
