Therefore, we encourage applications from all segments of society.
An exciting opportunity has emerged for a Band 7 Speech & Language Therapist to become a vital member of our team, focusing on delivering exceptional rehabilitation services either at home or in outpatient settings. This role is crucial in facilitating the transition of stroke patients from hospital care to community rehabilitation.
The successful candidate will collaborate with the Speech and Language Therapy (SLT) team to provide community services throughout the area and will directly engage with the broader Allied Health Professional (AHP) stroke rehabilitation team. This position demands specialized expertise in managing complex dysphagia and communication challenges, particularly in the context of stroke recovery. Additionally, the post holder will extend support to the SLT team concerning various neurological conditions and dementia. Experience with Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) systems is advantageous. The role involves working across diverse environments, including hospitals, patients' residences, and care facilities.
The Adult Acquired SLT Service operates on a Tayside-wide basis and holds regular local and regional meetings. You will closely collaborate with fellow SLT professionals regarding patient management, quality audits, and service enhancement initiatives. We actively support and encourage professional development, providing distinct line management and clinical supervision to ensure robust clinical performance.
Applicants must be registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and possess the capability to travel as required.
Work hours are set at 37 hours per week, with consideration given to part-time arrangements or employment at Band 6, depending on your qualifications and experience.
NHS Scotland is transitioning to a reduced full-time working week of 37 hours from a previous 37.5 hours, effective from a future date, with no alteration in salary. This change will also apply proportionately to part-time staff. This announcement and any subsequent employment offer will reflect the new working hours. However, due to the gradual implementation of this change across various service areas, you may be required to work an additional 30 minutes per week temporarily, for which you will be compensated until your service area adjusts its schedules.
We welcome informal inquiries to discuss this role further.
