We are seeking a dedicated Assistant Buyer to support our purchasing department at Reed. The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting the Senior Buyer with the procurement of all parts, materials, and commodities, ensuring the health and safety of staff, approved suppliers/contractors, minimizing environmental impact, and achieving service and quality expectations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assisting the buyer with the selection of the right product mix to meet business requirements.
- Writing, placing, and tracking purchase orders to ensure timely delivery and quality standards.
- Ensuring products are purchased at the right time, to specification, and at a good price to maximize value for the company.
- Negotiating with vendors to build positive, long-term relationships and secure competitive pricing.
- Researching new suppliers and making recommendations to the buyer to improve procurement processes.
- Preparing competitive retail and pricing strategies to stay ahead of market trends.
- Planning, monitoring, and maintaining suitable inventory levels to meet business needs.
- Preparing budgets and forecasting purchasing trends to inform business decisions.
- Compiling reports on product performance and statistics to measure procurement effectiveness.
Requirements:
- Degree in business, economics, marketing, or a related field is preferred.
- Previous experience in the merchandising or retail industry is a plus.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills to build strong relationships with suppliers and stakeholders.
- Strong analytical and organizational skills to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
- Ability to multi-task and perform under pressure to meet deadlines and deliver results.
- Experience with merchandising software systems is a plus.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office to manage data and reports.
