About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Workshop Technician to join our team at First Tech Limited. As a key member of our workshop team, you will be responsible for the disassembly, inspection, repair, and testing of company and client-owned lifting equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Disassemble, inspect, repair, and test lifting equipment in accordance with company procedures and work instructions.
  • Identify and evaluate mechanical fittings and components to ensure accurate diagnosis and repair.
  • Conduct fault-finding and repair of lifting and manual handling equipment in accordance with company procedures and work instructions.
  • Test lifting and manual handling equipment to ensure compliance with company procedures and work instructions.
  • Repair and re-certify hydraulic cylinders, pumps, jacks, torque tools, bolt tensioners, hydrotest pumps, puller kits, crimpers, and cutters.
  • Evaluate results of fault-finding and ensure original components are replaced or installed in accordance with applicable specification and procedure.
  • Produce clear and concise reports of components repaired or replaced, installed in accordance with applicable specification and procedure.
  • Ensure duties in wash baths and blast machines are carried out as per company procedures when required.
  • Ensure all equipment is painted in accordance with company procedures.
  • Populate certificates with equipment details, ensuring information is correct and signed off.
  • Ensure all finished products comply with company procedures and are packaged for shipment or storage.
  • Conduct quality control of mechanical equipment upon completion of service or testing when required.
  • Liaise with team lead or supervisor regarding any issues with meeting customer needs and delivery schedules.
  • Accurately complete route cards.
  • Operate hydraulic presses in accordance with company procedures and processes.
  • Provide support and carry out employee training as directed by the workshop team lead or rentals supervisor as necessary.
  • Assist with any other duties as and when required.
Requirements
  • Previous experience within a similar position or mechanical environment.
  • Ability to interpret mechanical system drawings and mechanical engineering drawings/plans.
  • Ability to evaluate component condition.
  • Ability to accurately identify various mechanical fittings and components.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Engineering or mechanical engineering qualification.
  • Knowledge of LOLER regulations or LEEA qualifications.
  • Previous industry experience.
  • Team player and ability to work independently.
