The Elms Surgery is a medium-sized medical practice located in a desirable area of Central Watford. We are part of the Central Watford Primary Care Network and utilize the EMIS Clinical System. Our practice serves a large patient population and offers excellent road and rail commuter links, as well as proximity to top-rated schools.

Job Summary

We are seeking a flexible and motivated General Practitioner to join our team for 4-6 sessions per week. The ideal candidate will be able to work autonomously and make professional decisions in relation to patient care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Undertake a variety of practice duties, including face-to-face consultations, telephone consultations, and home/care home visiting (rare)
  • Action bloods, tasks, check and sign EPS repeat prescriptions and PA scripts, and deal with queries
  • Make professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems
  • Assess the healthcare needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems
  • Develop care plans for patients with long-term conditions
  • Provide counseling and health education
  • Admit or discharge patients to and from the caseload and refer to other care providers as appropriate
  • Prescribe in accordance with the practice prescribing formulary and work to ICB guidelines
  • Support and supervise Physician Associates as required to ensure smooth practice operations
  • Manage and support ongoing palliative care and elderly care case loads

Person Specification

  • Recently qualified or experienced General Practitioner
  • Fully qualified General Practitioner with GMC registration
  • Annual appraisal and revalidation
  • Be on the NHSE medical performers list
  • Desirable: Specialist interest in Elderly or Palliative Care, Long-term condition management, or teaching
