Position Overview

This role offers an exciting opportunity for a Healthcare Assistant to join our team. Responsibilities will include working in various wards and supporting maternity procedures. Comprehensive training will be provided.

This position requires shift work throughout the week.

Key Responsibilities

The Healthcare Assistant will provide high-quality, compassionate personal care and related tasks under the guidance and supervision of registered professionals, while working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.

As a Healthcare Assistant, you will play a vital role in ensuring the delivery of safe, effective, and compassionate care to patients and their families. This job description should be reviewed alongside the person specification for this role.

Clinical Responsibilities

Carry out instructions from registered professionals promptly and accurately.

  • Perform duties as outlined in the Trust's approved task list for Healthcare Assistants.
  • Report any concerns regarding patient conditions to the supervising professional.
  • Deliver individualized care under the supervision of registered professionals.
  • Document all care provided, ensuring confidentiality is maintained.
  • Assist in preparing patients for treatments and maintain cleanliness in clinical areas.
  • Adhere to infection control protocols and support patients and families with empathy.
  • Assist with patient discharge processes as directed.

Communication and Teamwork

Welcome patients and visitors, providing assistance and information as needed.

  • Introduce yourself in line with privacy and dignity standards.
  • Answer phone calls courteously and direct inquiries appropriately.
  • Communicate effectively within the multidisciplinary team to ensure coordinated patient care.
  • Participate in reporting and documentation of patient care under supervision.
  • Utilize Trust information systems as required.

Education and Development

Attend mandatory training sessions and complete the Trust's induction program for Healthcare Assistants.

  • Engage in the Trust's appraisal process and pursue relevant training for professional development.
  • Stay informed about changes in policies and procedures relevant to the role.

Qualifications and Experience

Essential

  • Educational qualifications at GCSE level A-C in English and Maths or equivalent.
  • Experience working collaboratively within a team.

Desirable

  • Experience in a healthcare or people-centered environment.

Other Requirements

Essential

  • Able to work flexibly across a 24-hour period.
  • Capable of performing moderate to intense physical tasks throughout the day.
  • Able to work in an emotionally demanding environment with appropriate support.
