Job Title: Primary SEN Teaching Assistant

Academics Ltd is seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join our team in a primary school setting. As a key member of our staff, you will play a vital role in supporting students with Special Educational Needs (SEN) to engage with their learning, develop social skills, and access a full and enriching curriculum.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide tailored support to students with SEN, adapting teaching methods and resources to meet their unique learning needs and preferences.
  • Implement strategies outlined in Individual Education Plans (IEPs) to facilitate learning and social interaction.
  • Work closely with the class teacher and Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCo) to identify and implement effective support strategies.
  • Attend and contribute to meetings, assessments, and reviews of students with SEN, providing insights on their progress and challenges.
  • Use positive behaviour management techniques to help students navigate social situations, develop peer relationships, and enhance their communication skills.
Requirements:
  • Relevant qualifications such as a Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification, or equivalent experience in a similar role.
  • Experience working with children with Special Educational Needs, particularly autism.
  • Understanding of the principles of child development and learning processes aligned with primary education.
  • Enhanced DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check required.
