Job Title: Research Assistant

SRG is seeking a highly skilled Research Assistant to join our team in Oxford, UK. As a Research Assistant, you will play a pivotal role in supporting our laboratory activities, including cell sample preparation, plasmid DNA preparation, and results analysis.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare cell samples for LC and/or MS analysis
  • Support in vitro labs with cell sample preparation for PCR, qPCR, and gDNA extractions
  • Prepare plasmid DNA using Miniprep and Maxiprep kits
  • Conduct agar plate preparation, including plating of bacteria and colony picking
  • Assist with virus production and transduction
  • Analyze results and enter data into LIMS
  • Provide backup for first-level technical support
  • Manage consumable stock control using Kanban systems and lean practices
  • Label and aliquot vials as necessary
  • Participate in continuous improvement and sustainability activities
  • Contribute to general laboratory housekeeping and shutdowns
  • Participate in cross-training activities and provide cover for other team members
  • Liaise with facilities teams to ensure smooth laboratory operations
Candidate Requirements:
  • BSc/HND in science or equivalent experience
  • Experience with routine molecular biology techniques, including plasmid preparation and cell sample preparation
  • Familiarity with working in a laboratory environment
  • Ability to work to work instructions and SOPs/Risk Assessments
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Good planning and organizational skills with attention to detail
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office software
