About the Role

Vallum Associates is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Unix Systems Administrator to join our team. As a key member of our IT infrastructure team, you will be responsible for the technical delivery of projects and changes, providing technical guidance to project teams, and ensuring the smooth operation of our Unix environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Technical Delivery: Contribute to the technical delivery of projects and changes, providing technical guidance to project teams and ensuring the successful implementation of new technologies.
  • Unix Environment Management: Manage and maintain the Unix environment, including the installation, configuration, and troubleshooting of Unix systems and applications.
  • Technical Expertise: Develop and maintain technical expertise in development engineering and scripting, producing automated, efficient, and self-service solutions for technical teams and end-user stakeholders.
  • Communication and Collaboration: Communicate solutions, errors, and status reports to stakeholders at all levels of the business, and collaborate with application teams and other infrastructure teams to ensure seamless integration and delivery.
  • Process Improvement: Identify and implement process improvements and cost efficiency initiatives, and contribute to the development of best-in-class industry practices.
  • Team Leadership: Lead and mentor junior team members, providing guidance and support to ensure the successful delivery of projects and tasks.
Requirements
  • Experience: 5+ years of experience in UNIX infrastructure, with a strong background in Unix systems administration and technical delivery.
  • Technical Skills: Expert-level knowledge of UNIX (AIX/Solaris/Linux), Veritas Volume Manager, Veritas Cluster Server (SFHA), and Veritas NetBackup Client, as well as strong knowledge of host-based SAN migrations and SAN configuration.
  • Soft Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with stakeholders at all levels of the business.
  • Industry Certifications: Industry-standard certifications for UNIX/Cluster Technologies, such as ITIL and relevant vendor certifications.
Desirable Skills
  • Cloud Computing: Experience with Google and Amazon Cloud Services, as well as full-stack engineering skills in Kubernetes, Docker, Groovy, Jenkins, Mulesoft, and Kong API.
  • Automation: Strong automation skills, with a mindset to explore and exploit technologies safely and efficiently within the Bank.
  • Programming Languages: Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Perl, Groovy, and C.
