Job Title: Pupil Support Officer

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Pupil Support Officer to join our team at Rowanfield School, a special education setting that caters to the needs of children with a wide range of barriers to learning. As a Pupil Support Officer, you will play a vital role in supporting the educational and personal development of our pupils, many of whom have experienced trauma and have complex social and emotional needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide individualized support to pupils with complex needs, including those with autism, developmental delays, and other neurodiverse conditions.
  • Work closely with teaching staff, allied health professionals, and outside agencies to develop and implement personalized support plans.
  • Assist pupils with daily living skills, such as personal care, mealtime routines, and behavior management.
  • Contribute to a positive and inclusive school culture by promoting respect, integrity, and flexibility in all interactions.
  • Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and other professional development opportunities to enhance your skills and knowledge.

Requirements:

  • Experience working with pupils with complex needs, preferably in a special education setting.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with pupils, staff, and families.
  • Knowledge of de-escalation techniques and crisis management strategies.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and contribute to a positive school culture.
  • Flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
