Key Responsibilities
The ideal candidate will possess experience in a General Practice environment. The role requires familiarity with clinical systems and the ability to accurately input patient data. The responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- NHS Health Assessments
- Electrocardiograms (ECGs)
- B12, shingles, flu, and pneumonia vaccinations
- Wound management (as per established care plans)
- Stitch removal
- Blood sampling (Phlebotomy)
- Inventory management and supply rotation
- Support for Infection Control and Prevention initiatives
About Our Practice
We are a six-partner practice with a well-established nursing team that includes 2 Advanced Nurse Practitioners, 3 Practice Nurses, 1 Healthcare Assistant, and 2 Phlebotomists. Our facility features a bright and spacious nursing area with dedicated treatment rooms. We prioritize a healthy work-life balance for our staff and are part of a robust Primary Care Network, committed to delivering high-quality medical services to our patient population.
Job Duties
The successful candidate will be responsible for providing treatment room services in a General Practice setting, collaborating with physicians and nursing staff to deliver medical care to patients. Specific duties include:
- Administering treatment room services, including:
- NHS Health Assessments
- Phlebotomy
- Wound care
- Injections for B12, shingles, flu, and pneumonia
- Stitch and suture removal
- Managing the Treatment Room:
- Ensuring the availability and cleanliness of necessary equipment in accordance with infection control standards.
- Maintaining infection control protocols.
- Documenting patient clinical information in the electronic health record system.
- Engaging in evidence-based practices.
- Being aware of child health and protection policies, including local referral procedures.
- Working in alignment with practice protocols to support the clinical team.
- Upholding patient confidentiality and verifying patient identification.
- Communicating effectively with clinicians regarding any concerns.
Candidate Profile
Qualifications
Essential
- GCSEs in English and Maths (grades A to C)
Desirable
- Relevant qualification as a Healthcare Assistant
- Level 2 Safeguarding training
Experience
Essential
- Experience in a healthcare setting, preferably in primary care.
- Ability to accurately document clinical notes.
- Consistently maintain confidentiality, demonstrating compassion and respect for patients, families, and colleagues.
- Experience with clinical systems such as SystmOne and EMIS.
