We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Healthcare Assistant to join our team at South Reading and Shinfield Group Medical Practice.
Job SummaryThe successful candidate will work under the direct supervision of the senior practice nurse and in accordance with specific practice guidelines and protocols, assisting the practice clinical team in the provision and delivery of prescribed programmes of patient care.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct new patient health checks and assessments
- Monitor and record blood pressure, ECG, and other vital signs
- Perform phlebotomy and process laboratory samples
- Provide chaperoning duties and support with patient care
- Manage vaccine and cold chain storage, monitoring, and recording
- Restock and rotate surgical equipment and vaccines
- Prepare and maintain patient care environments and equipment
- Assist with patient assessments, surveillance, and specific clinical activities
- Support health and well-being promotion and collect data on patient needs
- Provide dressings and wound care, administer vaccinations, and perform health checks
- Work to patient care standards and assist with chronic disease checks and immunizations
- Order and replenish medical supplies and perform administrative duties
- Support the Covid-19 vaccination program
- 1 year of phlebotomy experience (Essential)
- Previous experience as a Healthcare Assistant in a GP practice (Desirable)
- GCSE grade A to C in English and Maths (Essential)
- Qualified to NVQ level 2 in Health and Social Care (Desirable)
- Ability to provide high-quality patient care
- Good interpersonal and communication skills
- Basic IT skills
- Awareness of blood-borne viruses
