Job Summary

The East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Trust is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Clinical Fellow in Obstetrics and Gynaecology to join our team. As a Senior Clinical Fellow, you will play a key role in providing high-quality patient care, leading and mentoring junior staff, and contributing to the development of our obstetric and gynaecology services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide high-quality patient care, including obstetric and gynaecological services, in a busy and dynamic environment.
  • Lead and mentor junior staff, including medical students and junior doctors, to ensure they receive the best possible training and support.
  • Contribute to the development of our obstetric and gynaecology services, including the implementation of new policies and procedures.
  • Participate in audit and quality improvement activities to ensure the highest standards of patient care.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive and coordinated care to patients.
Requirements
  • Eligible to work in the UK.
  • Full registration with the GMC with a licence to practice.
  • A minimum of 3 years' UK experience at registrar level at the time of starting in post.
  • Obstetric skills, with evidence of confirmed competency in Caesarean section, rotational deliveries, and third-degree perineal tear repair.
  • Gynaecology skills, with evidence of confirmed competency in surgical evacuation of uterus and surgical management of Bartholin's abscess.
Desirable
  • Currently working at senior registrar (ST6-7) level.
  • Gynaecology skills, with evidence of confirmed competency in diagnostic laparoscopy, hysteroscopy, and laparoscopic management of ectopic pregnancy.
  • Ultrasound, with intermediate obstetric or gynaecology ultrasound module completion.
