Key Responsibilities

The Transport General Manager will be tasked with:
  • Reporting directly to the Head of Transport or a similar senior role.
  • Overseeing a substantial team of over 300 indirect staff through 6 direct reports.
  • Assuming complete budgetary control for operations exceeding £50 million.
  • Managing comprehensive customer relationships from inception to completion.
  • Ensuring compliance with safety, legal, and policy standards, including fleet audits and operational excellence.
  • Driving people development and performance management within the logistics operation.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate for the Transport General Manager position will possess:
  • A solid background in Logistics Distribution and Supply Chain - Essential
  • Experience managing a budget around £50 million - Essential
  • A degree or equivalent qualification - Advantageous
  • Prior experience in a 3PL setting - Essential
  • Proven track record managing multiple customer accounts - Essential
  • Experience with both open and closed book contracts - Essential
  • Management of a fleet comprising over 300 vehicles - Essential
  • A high level of commercial insight - Essential
  • A minimum of 5 years of logistics experience at a comparable level - Essential

Compensation Package

This position offers a competitive salary ranging from £85,000 to £90,000, along with a car allowance and a senior leadership team package that includes a performance bonus.
